Infotel announces the acquisition of the German company Insoft Software GmbH, a database specialist. This transaction strengthens Infotel’s Software division and is part of the Group’s international growth strategy.
Insoft Software GmbH: specialist in technical software for databases
Founded by two consultants (Günther Wichmann and Colin Oakhill), Insoft Software GmbH designs, develops and markets technical software in the field of IBM DB2 databases.
The company’s flagship software includes DB/IQ, a software for managing the quality of applications made with DB2.
Insoft Software GmbH works with major German accounts and has gradually expanded internationally where it carries out 50% of its business.
Based in Düsseldorf, Insoft Software GmbH employs 8 people. The company is profitable and achieved in 2010 a turnover of about € 1 million.
Objective: to make Insoft Software GmbH the international distribution platform of Infotel’s Software division
Insoft Software GmbH and Infotel are positioned in the same market for very high-volume DB2 database technical software and are complementary, both in terms of product range and geographical areas.
Infotel publishes software to perform compression, unloading and fast reloading operations, backup and restoration, or archiving and dematerialization. In 2010, Infotel’s Software division generated revenue of €5.4 million (5% of total Group revenue), mainly with French customers, and worldwide through IBM’s distribution network.
Resolutely internationally oriented, Insoft Software GmbH operates directly in German-speaking countries and in other countries through its network of distributors.
Infotel has set itself two priority objectives in the integration process of Insoft Software GmbH: on the one hand, to combine in a single offer the DB/IQ software of Insoft Software GmbH and the Infoscope software of Infotel; and on the other hand, distribute Infotel software, including Arcsys, in Germany.
Ultimately, Insoft Software GmbH is set to become Infotel’s international distribution platform. This strategic acquisition responds to Infotel’s desire to expand the distribution of its own products.
A self-financed operation
Insoft Software GmbH is acquired on its own funds. The company will be consolidated as of July 1 and will participate positively in the Group’s 2011 results.
