The Client

At the beginning of the year this project began, our client announced a cool $50 billion merger with a global Italian auto-manufacturing holding. Given they themselves are a multinational manufacturing company, producing vehicles and motorcycles as an umbrella company to five well-established brands – this was a challenge we couldn’t wait to be part of.

The Challenge:

Infotel UK exists on the strength of established and trusted partnerships with our clients in the automotive sector.

For this case study, we shine a light on years of development dedicated to a VN/ICP Maintenance contract. The Virtual Network (VN) involved managing and maintaining virtual servers, switches, and routers. Similarly, the Internet Content Provider (ICP) maintenance focused on supporting content delivery networks (CDNs) for hosting and delivering online content, services, and applications.

And if we created this management system without consistent support for updates, security and performance optimisations?

We wouldn’t be one of the leading IT consultancies in the automotive sector.

The Response:

We began by health-checking the existing infrastructure to ensure our VN maintenance additions would enhance the client’s ICP goals.

Given the client’s significant industry presence and upcoming merger, we focused on the following key areas:

  • Management of vehicle orders
  • Distribution of new vehicles
  • Commercial programming
  • Logistical monitoring (order creation, tracking, planning)
  • Customer repositories (networks, Direct Customers, Protocols)

To ensure success, we provided services such as corrective, evolutive, and preventive maintenance, technical and functional support (N2, N3), 24/7 on-call duty, expertise services, and knowledge management. We became a key partner in our client’s progression, development and integration in all work stemmed form the merger.

From this total restructure of technical work environment, we’re still delighted to maintain the applications set in place for over 5 years.

Project Outcome

The project concluded with a thorough understanding of the client’s technical environment, allowing our staff augmentation model to seamlessly integrate into all future work..

As a result, Infotel became a vital extension of the client’s team. We developed a productivity optimization plan to ensure our VN/ICP contract operated efficiently, enhancing existing infrastructures. The results of this case study are still ongoing, and we are proud to have maintained the applications established for over five years. Since the project’s inception, we’ve delivered 52 applications covering key areas such as:

  • Production volume management
  • Central billing
  • Distribution and logistics
  • Commercial programming
  • Customer repository management
