The Client
User-friendly, comprehensive end-to-end processes are crucial to our client as they operate within the R&D centre of an international automotive manufacturer with a strong global presence. They play a critical role in supporting parts testing and certification, guaranteeing that the company’s global manufacturing processes adhere to industry and regulatory standards.
The Challenge:
The client’s previous process, with over 30 steps, was highly inefficient. This resulted in wasted resources and a high risk of errors.
To address these challenges, Infotel UK Consulting was engaged for a four-week discovery and analysis phase to design the system architecture and secure approval from the Client’s Architecture Board.
We identified the following key challenges:
- Eliminating inefficiencies: First, we needed to eliminate significant inefficiencies stemming from their manual process, specifically the high risk of errors in parts identification and ordering, which created a major bottleneck.
- Scale for growth: The new B2E Web App had to be built for future growth, scaling seamlessly from 100 to 1000 users per month, creating a high-performing and reliable system for their expanding engineering staff.
- Review and Approval: Finally, to guarantee the project’s success and long-term viability, we focused on delivering a robust system architecture that would not only meet the client’s needs but also secure a successful Architecture Board review and approval.

The Response:
Infotel UK Consulting commenced the project with a kick-off meeting involving the Head of the Information Systems Department and business stakeholders. This helped in setting expectations and defining deliverables within the agreed timeframe.
The proposed solution was a hybrid system that integrated Client’s on-premises parts-related systems with a cloud-based Web App hosted on AWS.
Here’s what we focussed on:
- Scalability and Performance: AWS-managed compute services were utilised to handle the projected user load efficiently.
- Auto-Scaling and Clustering: Designed to accommodate fluctuations in user activity while ensuring optimal performance.
- High Availability and Disaster Recovery: The database was replicated across multiple AWS Availability Zones with a read replica dedicated to reporting needs.

Project Outcome
Infotel UK Consulting delivered a scalable, high-performance system architecture for the Client, tackling the inefficiencies in their test parts request process. This project set the stage for a fully automated, cloud-integrated solution, designed to boost operational efficiency and reduce errors.
In December 2024, the Client’s Architecture Board gave the system architecture initial approval, with just a few minor changes. Full approval followed soon after. The Client was really pleased with our team’s work, especially the attention to detail and how smoothly the review process went.
